In assessing the potential of quality assurance in a higher education institution, particularly within the University of Education Ganesha’s environment, one can observe the assurance of high-quality education through the process of receiving input, criticism, and suggestions based on legal regulations, fundamental values, vision, and mission of the University of Education Ganesha (Undiksha). These regulations are in line with Law No. 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System, Article 51 paragraph 2 regarding the management of higher education institutions based on principles of autonomy, accountability, quality assurance, and transparent evaluation. Additionally, it is outlined in the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 49 of 2014 regarding National Education Standards, where Undiksha has mandated the assurance of educational quality as the successor to stakeholders, as well as the Minister’s determination in meeting Higher Education Standards consisting of National Education Standards, Research Standards, and Community Service Standards, covering both academic and non-academic fields.
The Students Association of the Department of Indonesian and Regional Literature (HMJBSID) is involved in overseeing the quality assurance of the study program, particularly in the Balinese Language Education Study Program and the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Program. This program takes the form of providing all students with an opportunity to express criticism and suggestions regarding educational services, especially within the Department of Indonesian and Regional Literature (JBSID) environment. In addition to involving students, this work program also includes participation from lecturers, HMJ management officials, department and program managers consisting of department chairs and secretaries, as well as the coordinators of each program.
The Panel Discussion for Quality Assurance by Students
From the activity, students get the opportunity to engage in dialogue with lecturers to address issues they face, such as the quality of teaching, thesis advising, and facilities and infrastructure services that support students’ learning comfort. This program activity is carried out annually, specifically at the beginning of each odd semester, every year which might also take place online.
Online Panel Discussion
In addition to the previously mentioned issues, the department also has a program to improve service quality by involving students, especially in addressing issues related to study completion delays. These issues commonly arise when students enter the seventh semester, coinciding with the thesis preparation period, as well as the obstacles and factors that hinder students from completing their studies on time. Therefore, the department must involve students in addressing these issues.
With the enthusiasm of students in this program, through the regular panel discussion, students are allowed to be involved in improving education quality. The dialogue activities between students and lecturers also have a significant positive impact on determining the quality of education services, especially within the Department of Indonesian and Regional Literature environment, which includes both programs namely the Balinese Language Education Program and the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Program.
