Kadek Agus Darmayasa, a dalang or Balinese traditional puppeteer, has been invited as a practitioner at the Balinese Language Education Study Program to teach the Old Balinese Literature Course in the even semester of the academic year 2023/2024. In his initial session, he commenced by elucidating the various types, characteristics, and lyrics of Balinese traditional songs known as “sastra tembang.” His inclusion in this course is anticipated to provide not only theoretical insights but also practical understanding of old Balinese literature. Throughout the semester, Darmayasa will delve into topics such as sekar rare, sekar alit, sekar madia, sekar agung, and palawakia, in addition to facilitating discussions on Old Balinese Literature appreciation, encompassing prose and tembang.
