The workshop on Matembang (Traditional Javanese Poetry) or Kakawin (Javanese Traditional Song) conducted by the Balinese Language Education Study Program specifically offers a range of valuable benefits for the lectures. It deepens their understanding and appreciation of traditional Javanese literary forms, equipping them with comprehensive knowledge to teach these subjects effectively. Moreover, the lecturers gain practical skills and techniques in teaching Matembang or Kakawin, enhancing their ability to engage students and promote cultural awareness in the classroom. Additionally, the workshop provides networking opportunities with fellow educators and experts, fostering collaboration and sharing of best practices. Participating in this workshop empowers teachers to enrich their teaching methods, broaden cultural education, and inspire students to appreciate Javanese cultural heritage.
As a result of participation, the lecturers of the study program enhanced the Semester Syllabus Plan for some courses. They include practicing and developing traditional Javanese poetry and traditional Javanese songs that enhance the student’s knowledge and skills and their confidence to perform better in public. Some students participated in Traditional Javanese Poetry and Javanese Traditional Song competitions. The lecturers also conducted a community service program in collaboration with the local village government to train children doing Matembang (Traditional Javanese Poetry) or Kakawin (Javanese Traditional Song).
